Constructed (re)Constructed explores two artists’s interest in architectural transitions over recent decades in China. The surface qualities, visual aspects of the environment, and different approaches to spatial or social situations are their focus. Art and architecture both set up a world that is created through memory and material: treating the gallery’s space as a repository for a “poetic image”, Meng Jin and Fan’ Er use secondhand furniture to “re-construct” a surreal atmosphere. Many of the paintings, photography, videos and installations included in the exhibition attempt to bridge the distance between art, every day life and memory. The exhibition explores the many possibilities that exist in contemporary art through the reuse and reinterpretation of private, public spaces and ordinary things - be they found, bought, appropriated, or invented. This show celebrates and investigates the nature of our urban landscape and its detritus. In doing so, it gives us a different perspective and awareness of the banal spaces we inhabit.

“建与再建”表达了两位艺术家对近几十年来中国在建筑风格变迁上的兴趣。表层上的质量，视觉上的环境，不同的方式，以及空间或社会状况等是他们关注的焦点。艺术和建筑，都是通过记忆和材料，去创造世界。把画廊的空间作为一个存放 “诗意的景象”的贮藏室，孟瑾和方二使用二手的家具，“重新建构”了一种超现实的氛围。展览中很多的绘画、摄影、影像和装置，试图在艺术、人们日常的生活和记忆等距离之间构建一个桥梁。通过被人们发现了的，购买了的，占用了的，或发明了的，私人和公共的空间和对普通的事物的再次利用和重新使用，展览“建与再建”探讨了许多存在于当代艺术之中的可能性，探究了城市景观及其碎屑的本质。这样，它给我们提供了一种不同的视角和对我们栖居的平庸空间的清醒认识。
